“The purpose of news from a civics perspective is to inform you about things going on in the world and in your community so that you can make better decisions for your life, family, and business. […] Behavior in the real world is what effects political change, not getting anxious in front of a screen.”
About Me
In my private-sector life, I specialize in product marketing, product strategy, and go-to-market execution, with a focus on technology and media. Most recently, I led U.S. Product Marketing and Consumer Insights at SmartNews, driving product strategy, brand development, and integrated marketing campaigns. Before that, I was a product marketer at LinkedIn, where I helped grow LinkedIn Talent Insights from an internal startup to core part of LinkedIn’s talent business.
At the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, I teach two courses — “Technology and Ethics” and “Leadership and Ethics in the Digital Age” — that help MBA students navigate ethical challenges posed by AI and digital platforms. I also have an active consulting practice for government and corporate clients.
As issues related to tech, ethics, and media have gained public attention, I have commented on them for Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. You can also find me on Substack at The Ethical Technologist where I publish thoughts on how business leaders, government, and citizens can work together to make technology more compatible with democracy and human flourishing.
